Went out on a whim....

It's Monday.  Totally a Monday.  Nothing seems to be going the way I want it to.  But what do you expect?  It's Monday!

Anyway, I was at Costco with the children.  Walking the isles, it was, "Mom!  I want this!" or "Mom!  I want that!"  I told them that they could each pick out a book.  Easy, right?!  Well, I of course start looking at the book selection.  Bared To You by Sylvia Day was there, read it.  The whole Fifty Shades trilogy was there as well, read it, died, then re-read it.  Then I found this, The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes.

Normally these kind of book would not interest me, I like them sappy and dirty.  But this one called to me.  Read the back of it and thought, "Why not?"  I went out on a whim and purchased it.

So, I was thinking, "This would make a great book club starter."  Once again, I'm going out on a whim here and asking you all to purchase this book so we can talk about it at a future date, maybe after Labor Day?  The book at Costco was only $9.79, which isn't bad.

What do you think?  Interested?  I hope you are!  This would be fun!

Happy Monday!

Through Smoke by J.R. Tate

I normally only purchase romance novels, and this was classified as one.  There really wasn't a whole lot of romance in it to be honest with you.  But that was okay actually, the story rocked!

The book takes us on a journey with Michael McGinnis and his dealings as a NYC firefighter and the troubles he has come into, courtesy of his brother, Casey.  Casey, a druggie with a betting habit, comes to Michael looking for a place to stay.  He brings one friend over, and it all goes downhill from there.

On the romance side of the story, he has been working along side Eva Crisante, a Paramedic stationed at the same firehouse as Michael works at for quite some time.  They were partners back in the day, and always remained friends.  But a hang out here, and a date there, there friendship blooms into something bigger.

This book left me in suspense every turn of the page.  What I thought would happen didn't.  This is only book one in J.R. Tate's Troubled Hero series, and I can tell you that it won't be the last book of the series that I read....

Try Me by Olivia Cunning

Olivia Cunning wrote another great story about another rock band.

Try Me takes us to a Sole Regret concert where Nikki is dragging Melanie around, trying to get backstage to meet the band. Nikki wants to get it on with their lead singer, and Melanie is there to keep her safe. Melanie meets a regular looking guy, Gabe, at the concert after party.

What Melanie doesn't know is that Gabe is a part of the band, who she really doesn't know a whole lot about. Gabe is taken to her right away. Melanie gets him to open up, which in turns opens up a night to some amazing sex!

Can Gabe and Melanie survive after just one night together?

This is a shorter story than what we are used to from Olivia Cunning, but boy does she know how to tease us with it. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

Why Not Today?

This is something I've been thinking about doing for quite a while actually.  Why has it taken me so long when I've had all this at the tip of my fingertips?  Who the hell knows.  I've been a busy body lately and when it comes time to think about things I want to do for me, well, let's just say those are numbers 700-800 on my 'to-do' list......

Why today?  Well, let's see.  Kid #1 and Kid #2 are doing their chores around the house, and Kid #3 is playing with his Hot Wheels.  The hubby is at work, which leaves me to do what I want.  So, as I keyed myself up in the back room of our house, I started writing.  And half way through the day's writings, I started to think 'why not today?'

So, here we are!

I know I don't have any followers just yet, so I'm pretty much talking to myself through all of this.  But who knows?  I may get a few people interested to hear what I have to say.  Which, in my book, would be pretty damn cool.

So, here I am, holding an invisible glass of Guinness beer, saying, "Here's to us.  A beautiful beginning."

Peace out.
